A Quick Half-day Tour @ Phuket (Part 1)

April 30th, 2007 by Wai Loong (1 Comment)

As our team hit Phuket international airport while struggling with our 4 or less hours of sleep, we managed to survived and I quickly whipped out my trusted pocket camera again and caught this one one the lens… 😉

Arrived at Phuket International Airport

We hit on the tour bus and moved quickly across the island to the first sight seeing stop – “PornThip Sea Store”.

Frankly, the stuffs they sell is a whole lot more expensive as compared to Bangkok. Unfortunately, it’s just the way it is because I have been tolling around Patong Beach, for as far as I can walk and even beyond the map can show but nowhere can I find anything close to what you will find in this store.

In short – you pay the price for the good stuffs in life. 😉

Outside Pornthip Sea Store

As we move quickly towards for the next stop, I quickly took a breathtaking shot of this sea store from about 20 meters outside.

Phuket T-Shirt Factory

The tour guide dropped us for about 30 minutes to grab what I call the cheap designer’s factory house they call “T-Shirt Factory”.

It’s not quite grand looking from the outside but you’ll be surprised when you step in and some of the designs are pretty good. I managed to grab one Phuket design before we hit on the roads for our last stop for – lunch *yeah*! 😉

Phuket Big C

Phuket Big C is one of those large super shopping malls you can find in Phuket. We had our free style lunch served and it’s all paid for by the sponsor. Wow! The food is quite good but the dessert was average.

Phuket M Restaurant

Some of us later discovered while shopping for drinking water that they had gotten conned at the Sea Store earlier where some paid for as much as 80 Thai Baht for a 500ml of bottled mineral water when you can get one for as low as 43 baht for a 1.5 liters. I was relieved that I didn’t buy any at the Sea Store because of the nasty feeling of getting conned by the tour guide and company. 😉

Lesson learnt (if any for you) – Watch what you buy when your tour guide brings you to somewhere new and you’re not familiar with the pricing of what the locals are willing to pay for.

More breathtaking reviews coming the next few days as I sort through the hundreds of shots I took! 😉

Happy Labour Day Singapore!
